Which Moroccan tomatoes you can buy: formats and varieties
When you buy Moroccan tomatoes in bulk, the first step is to choose the commercial type. Round smooth tomato is the main volume for wholesale markets and foodservice, in sizes from 47 to 82 mm. On-the-vine tomato is sold with the whole truss, so check the freshness of the stem and the even colour.
Round cherry and pear cherry come in 250 g and 500 g punnets, or loose, and are the winter product most in demand by European retailers. Pear or Roma tomato suits foodservice, fourth range and some markets in southern France and Italy. Almost all export tomato leaves from Souss-Massa, on the Chtouka plain south of Agadir.
According to HortiDaily, citing FEPEX analysis, tomato is still the Moroccan vegetable most imported into the EU, followed by pepper and green beans. You can see the full product page in our Moroccan tomato product page.
How to specify your order: size, packing and labels
A well-defined tomato order includes four details: commercial type, size, packing and labelling. State the size within the 47 to 82 mm range and the class you need, because uniformity inside the box depends on it.
For packing, the usual format is the 6 kg box (5 to 6 kg depending on type), with 160 boxes per pallet. Cherry goes in 250 g or 500 g punnets. If you want your own brand, send us the design before the season to reserve materials. Origin, class and size marking must comply with the EU marketing standard.
Also tell us the colour you need. Tomato for destinations 4 or 5 days away leaves at an earlier colour stage than tomato for Spain, so an order for Germany should not specify the same colour as one for Madrid.
Moroccan tomato season: when supply is available
Moroccan export tomato runs from October to June, with the volume peak between November and March. In that period outdoor production in southern Europe has ended, and northern European greenhouse output is low and expensive. October is the start, with short volume and uneven sizes.
From April to June there is still product, but declining, with higher temperatures and lower firmness. In those months it competes with tomato from Almería, Murcia and Dutch greenhouses. July, August and September have no exportable supply. These are data for the 2025/26 season.
Cherry tends to have a slightly longer curve, because many farms stagger their plantings. Confirm weekly availability before you close a programme: a cold January can delay the peak by two or three weeks.
How tomato is packed and checked at origin
Our inspectors check each pallet in the store before it goes onto the truck, against a written specification that we agree with you before the first load. Size is measured with a gauge per box, colour with a ripeness chart, and firmness is checked. Defects are inspected: soft fruit, splitting, bruises, scars, rots and insect damage. On the vine, the condition of the stem is also checked, and for cherry and specialities, °Brix against the minimum in your specification.
Pulp temperature is measured with a probe in several boxes of each pallet before loading. Each trailer carries a temperature logger. If a pallet does not meet the specification, it is replaced or reclassified before loading, not at destination. Each pallet carries a label and traceability back to the farm.
Before departure you receive a report with photos of each pallet: overall view, open box, cut fruit, and size and temperature readings. You can see the full protocol on our quality control at origin page.
How to order a pallet of Moroccan tomatoes with Agro Morocco
You do not need a container to start. You can order from one pallet on our refrigerated groupage shared trucks, with weekly departures and, depending on demand, up to daily. If you combine tomato with pepper or courgette, you pay per pallet and share the departure.
With more than 26 pallets on the same lane, a full load gives one origin and destination, with no consolidation stops. The usual Incoterms are DAP to your market, with a final price per pallet, or FCA at origin if you have your own transport.
Indicative transit from the last loading point is 2 to 3 days to Spain, 3 to 4 days to France and 5 days to Germany. Times are confirmed with each booking. To request a quote, tell us your destination, format, size, weekly volume and delivery weeks on our contact page.
